The list of the victims of the Night of the Long Knives (actually
one nigt and one day in Summer 1934) is long and
heterogenous. Hitler got rid over those 2 long days of his
political opponents, of most of SA high ranking members, of
main rivals and people who knew too much and even of
religious leaders, artists or journalists who could talk against
him. Those cold blood murders perpetrated by the SS with the
tacite cooperation of the Reichswehr will end every form of
opposition to the Nazis. Henceforth German people understood
the message :"Keep quiet and you have nothing to fear." They
did.
